The greater metropolitan area in Cairo and Giza is surrounded by a freeway known as Ring Road, as is the case in most metropolis in the world.
The huge road gave me a negative impression at first, as is the massive construction decoupling the city disorderly with an exclusionary line like a wall.
On the other hand, I felt a sense of nostalgia because I was born and grew up in Tokyo, a similar construction also being there in Tokyo.
At the same time It caused me huge confusion because for a long time I was also negative about the Tokyo ring road.
However, the confusion was changed as I came across the people crossing the ring road.
It made me easier to be torelance against the bigness of the ring road, It appeared to me that understanding between me and the road had begun.
Then I started to cross the road and stayed in a central reservation where no one should be, an empty corner of the world, to see what is the world.
I returned constantly to the place from 2012 until 2014, after the Egyptian revolution including the period of the coup d’état.
